About Jayne Smyth - aka: J.Y.N.

I was born Ji Xiang but am actually of a mixed cultural heritage including Asian, British and European. Confusing indeed! My american name is Jayne Smyth. Why? Because my family thought the name "Jayne" was somewhat reminiscent of Xiang (x is pronounced as a "jah" sound),and hence a good "Anglicized" substitute. I shortened this to "J.Y.N" simply because it suited me to do so.

According to the oriental zodiac I was born under the sign of the rooster. In the traditional zodiac, I would be a Scorpio.

I have many, many interests. All of which lean ultimately toward self discovery and knowledge. I have a distinctly philosophical bent to my nature. I love arts of all kinds and enjoy being artistic.

Why I began PGCW? I began this venture as an outlet of general expression. As one who has struggled in her life, I am grateful for the fortune of having a job when many do not. Yet, that does not abate some of the disappointment I encounter and I am certain, many others encounter also; no matter what their professional level.

While I personally have always been much of a solitary sort of person, being enmeshed now in corporate America has been an experience of new (or rude) awakenings into the generally egotistical nature we humans possess. I equate the routine and mundane interactions I observe between individuals as macrocosm to the microcosm of our larger nation of humanity overall. I observe how people separate "personal" from "professional" and in the process, somehow lose all sense of compassion. No greater example of this can found than that which is seen in the corporate culture. As I spend about 50 hours a week at work, I cannot help but notice the impact such dynamics have.

In my blog you will find true stories- some humourous, some on the serious side - general thoughts, ideas - whatever I feel like writing about. I would advise here that whatever is written, is my own means of expression and is not intended as voice for any other. However, should you find some commonality with my journaling, feel free to share your ideas and comment.

Thank you.
Signed - J.Y.N (aka Jayne 'Ji Xiang' Smyth)
